The Attention Seeker!

I myself have a three year old daughter, and although at times it’s sunshine and rainbows, sometimes it’s like all hell has broken loose. She is definitely a mommy’s girl and with that being said never wants to leave my side. There is a famous Jamaican quote that states “they are close like batty pon bench”. The literal meaning in plain english, is that she is stuck on me like a bum is to a seat. It’s really hard juggling doing my homework and also at the same time giving her the attention that she seeks. As I type, even now she is sitting right beside me saying, “Mommy, Mommy”. It gets quite frustrating at times to have to; focus on ensuring that my homework is properly done, having to pause mid thought to fetch juice, or fix a toy or arrange her shirt because she is not happy with the way that it looks.Yet, I wouldn’t trade this life for anything. Everyone is motivated by something, or in my case someone. That someone happens to be my little attention seeker. It has taught me how to multi-task and there are times that I have to remember, she is not an adult, she is dependent on me. I am her, food source, her comfort and her joy. So at times yes it can be difficult but I think everyone should have a little attention seeker, because it shows you the side that you don’t see on tv when it comes to having a child.
